The purpose of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Historic Triangle is to work toward an inclusive society that deeply values compassion, justice, and dignity for each person by undermining white supremacy within ourselves, our community, and our institutions through the following activities: 

1. Continually educating white people (including ourselves) about historical and contemporary racism and white supremacy as they manifest in our institutions as well as our individual attitudes and behaviors, including not only the tremendous harm they cause to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPoC), but the harmful impacts to white people, too;

2. Developing and sustaining relationships of accountability with BIPoC individuals and organizations in our community; and 

3. Working as part of multi-racial coalitions - following the lead of BIPoC led organizations - to confront harmful programs, institutions, and systems and promote alternatives that ensure the wellbeing of all people, prioritizing those who have been oppressed and/or marginalized by racial-capitalist systems of power.
